For The Community Smoke DetectorsThe Smoke Detector Program permits Firefighters to install residential smoke detectors at no cost for seniors and low income residents.
Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) Automatic external defibrillators installed in seven locations: City Hall, The Senior Center, The Francis Anderson Center, Yost Pool, the Public Works Building, Police-Courts-Council Chambers, and Library. AEDs are computerized medical devices that when applied to a person who has suffered a heart attack evaluates the victim’s heart rhythm and delivers an electric shock if needed. The AED uses voice prompts, lights, and text messages to instruct the citizen bystander/rescuer in the necessary steps.
Helping Hands ProgramIn a joint venture with the International Association of Fire Fighters Union Local No. 1828, provides discretionary cash to on-duty crews to provide temporary assistance to citizens during difficult periods in their life. |
